The Great Gildersleeve
(played by Harold Peary)
bravely escorts his niece, Marjorie
(played by Marylee Robb) to
Summerfield Church
on her wedding day.
It's a busy day for Gildersleeve
 and for Birdie (Lillian Randolph)
and Marjorie.
"Where's the ice cream I ordered?"
Gildy protests to Mr. Peavey
(Dick Legrand).
He finds nephew Leroy
(Walter Tetley) under the house,
with his pet turtle.
Marjorie disappears;
Gildy finds her crying because
she is leaving home.
Gildersleeve finally gets Marjorie
cheered up and on her way to church.
 But that busybody Mrs. Thompson
(Jeanette Nolan), mother of the groom,
shows up and tries to take charge of the
party at the last minute.  Leroy is
frankly disgusted at all the excitement.
With Gildersleeve at the wheel
of a rented sedan, and Mrs. Thompson
driving from the back seat, they arrive,
knocking over a fire plug.
To his horror, Gildersleeve finds
Floyd the Barber (Arthur Q. Bryan)
planning a practical joke at the
wedding.  He sternly forbids pranks.
As Marjorie kisses Bronco Thompson
(Dick Crenna), Gildy and Judge Hooker
(Earle Ross), best man, struggle to keep
back tears.
The couple escape in a shower of rice.
 Everybody's happy, especially Gildy,
who foiled Floyd's sabotage plot.
Gildy and Mrs. Thompson get into
their sedan - and out again.
That joker, Floyd, has bombed
the wrong car!
